Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 Mazda Tribute - Curt- Video

Speaker 1: Today on our 2009 Mazda Tribute we're gonna take a look at, and also show you how to install, the Curt Custom Fit Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver, offering the 2" by 2" receiver tube opening; its part number is 13650.Now here's what our hitch is gonna look like installed. As you can see, that cross tube is gonna drop down from behind our fascia where it connects with the frame, meets here in the middle at our receiver tube opening. Now this is a class III hitch, so it's gonna have a 2" by 2" receiver tube opening, and it's gonna make it a very, very versatile hitch. Now, when securing all of those items, you see our 5/8" diameter pin hole here. There's a good amount of room all the way around, so whatever type of accessory you're gonna use to hold your items in place should have plenty of room. So a pin and clip, locking pin, maybe an anti-rattle device; we shouldn't have any issues there.We've got a plate style safety chain connection point area. more

You can see we've got this square cross bar. It's going to come from each of the connection points to the frame on the side. As you can see, we've got a nice, round cross tube that goes into our fully-welded, nice heavy-duty hitch. It's got a nice, black powder-coated finish. On either side of our receiver tube's going to be our chain hold-down. Drilled all the way through the receiver tube is our 5/8 pinhole with our Class 3 2-inch by 2-inch receiver tube. more

Here's what our hitch is going to look like once it's installed. We've got a nice square tube design and a fully welded construction. Entire hitch is covered in a nice black powder-coated finish. Here at the center we're going to have a chain hold down on each side of our class two 1-1/4" by 1-1/4" receiver tube. Our hitch is capable of up to 300 pounds of tongue weight and 3,500 pound tow capacity. more

Next we will go ahead and give you a couple of measurements to assist you in selecting accessories for your hitch. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of the bumper it is approximately 1-1/2 inches, from the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is 16-1/4 inches. This will assist you in selecting accessories such s a bike rack or cargo carrier. Now we will go ahead with installation. To begin the install of our hitch we will first go ahead and point out the attachment points. We will have a total of six attachment points three on each side. First we will go ahead and get our hardware into the frame. We will take our pull wire and go into the attachment point and then run the pull wire out the end of the frame where we can slide on our block and thread on the carriage bolt. One at a time we will bleed the block and bolt into the frame rail and then pull them into position. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Mazda Tribute- Video

Today on this 2006 Mazda Tribute we are going to install part number 87585 from Hidden Hitch. This will also apply to part number 75693 from Draw-Tite. At this point we can start fish wiring using the pull wire, we are going to put it through the hole we are going to use and out the access hole. Next we will put the spacer block inside and we will push it on to the wire and push it into the frame and then we will thread the bolt in, push that into the frame as well, It would be a good idea to put it head first and then pull it on through. The driver side is done, lets do the same thing for the passenger side. At this point we can install the hitch by the two bolts that we installed. You want an extra set of hands to help hold it up while you push the hitch into place and thread on the conical tooth washer and nut. Now we have got the hitch hung by the two bolts. Lets get them finger tight to where we can line up the holes inside the frame with the hitch. 01:11 more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2004 Mazda Tribute- Video

Today we are going to install part number 75118 from Draw-Tite, and we are going to install this on a 2004 Mazda Tribute. Now we will show you our attaching points: they are going to be here, here and here. And it is going to be the exact same thing on the drivers side of the vehicle. We will use a wire pull first. We will push it through the bolt hole that we are going to use, out the end of the frame, and then attach our hardware to it. First we will start off with the plate and then we will end up with the carriage bolt, and we will repeat for the rest of the holes in the frame. more
